Pick the version made for your background: light-background logos on light pages, dark-background logos on dark ones.
Leave some clear space around the logo. About half the height of the check circle works well.
Scale the files as they are. Keeping the original colors and proportions keeps the mark recognizable.
For favicons, avatars, and other small spots, the square mark reads better than the wide or tall logo.
